"Changing your perspective, changes your experience."
Everyone has their own way of thinking and reasoning. Listening to other's point of view and improvising ourselves is a sign of growth mindset.
One such opportunity was given to Class VI students. While practicing questions of rounding numbers upto 2 decimal places, they encountered with a number 39.555 and they come up with two different answers - 39.56 and 39.60.
So, the whole class was divided into two teams (Team A and Team B) with two different answers. Each student decided their team on the basis of their answer and reasoning. Then, one student from each team gave their reasoning why they think the answer would be this or that and why the answer is not correct. After few rounds, some students switched their teams. After all the discussion, everyone agreed to go to TEAM A, with the answer 39.56
In this way, they learnt about presenting proper mathematical reasoning using appropriate vocabulary, overcome the misconception and rectifying the mistakes and learning from our peers.
