Class VIII- Let's Shop till we drop! (Activity)

"Shopping is my all-time favorite thing to do!
We have heard this statement very often and yes, definitely! everyone loves shopping!

Bringing such a joy and happiness to the classroom makes it more engaging for the students to explore and apply their algebraic skills while enjoying at the same time.

The students of Class VIII converted their classroom into a "market" and provided an opportunity to "buy" classroom items by writing their algebraic expressions

Several classroom items like books, notebooks, stationery, crayons, chart papers, lockers, posters (which includes Mexican art work, timetable, birthday list, club students list, transport list, etc.), tables, chairs, flags and many more, were labelled with a variable on a sticky note.

Every student got a chance to be a shopkeeper and then a customer. The students shopped for the labelled items in the classroom. Taking turns with their partners, each student rolled a die to decide how many of each item they would purchase. (For eg- if a student rolled 3 for a book, they would write the expression 3B). The students wrote their expression for representing the whole purchase, once done with the shopping.

Through this activity, the students enhanced their algebraic skills of Constructing Expressions which includes real life experiences and writing their expression in simplified form.

Class 7- Venn Diagram Activity

Learn, understand, recognise and differentiate among natural numbers, whole numbers, integers & rational numbers and place them into Venn Diagram makes it easy to visualise our number system. It helps in relating the numbers with one another as well.

The concentric circles of the Venn Diagram indicates that
1. All natural numbers are integers, and
2. All integers are rational numbers.

The students of Class VII used different coloured sheets to show different numbers, which made it more clear to identify different types of numbers.

A visit to Gurudwara

To imbibe the spirit of secularism, to sensitize students about respecting all religions, a visit ot Gurudwara was organised on 25.04.23. Students of class VI, VII and VIII went to Gurudwara, Pushpanjali Encalve during school hours. Students covered their heads before leaving from school. Covering heads symbolises respect towards the God. Students reached Gurudwara and removed their shoes and kept in shoe racks allotted to them and washed their hands. It encouraged discipline among students. Each student, one by one, bow down infront of Guru Granth Sahib and seek the blessings. Students spent good time by sitting in Gurudwara and listening bhajans. Main priest conducted Ardaas from Cambridge International DAVPS and distributed kada prasad among students. Students were calm and felt postive vibes around them.
